This blog tracks the start-up of First Reef sailing, a friendly small-scale sailing business based in the UK on a mission to make sailing on yachts accessible to all. (We like to dream big!) The business is Geert and Jane’s brainchild and came into this world on 1 May 2009.

Geert is an electronic and software engineer by training and spent twenty years developing software or managing software developers. Somewhere along the way he picked up the sailing bug and ran with it, clocking up 13,000 miles at sea and a Yachtmaster Ocean ticket over ten years of sailing for pleasure. Jane works as a communications manager and in real life is Geert’s partner. Her design and marketing background is really useful around the business, too. She’ll get around to doing  a proper bio any day now.
